Are You A Lifeline?
Proverbs 17:17-A friend is a loving companion at all times and a brother is born to share troubles.
Quote from Henri Nouwen: While efficiency and control are the great aspirations of our society, the loneliness, isolation, lack of friendship and intimacy, boredom, feelings of emptiness and depression, and a deep sense of uselessness fill the hearts of millions of people in our success-oriented world.
We can either be someone’s lifeline or their stumbling block. We must get past the nominal Christian chair sitter and recognize that we are all ministers of the gospel. Especially as we move beyond being a consumer for our own needs, we can ask for God’s sight and he will make us a lifeline.
Just as Ruth was to Naomi. Read: Ruth 1:16-17
Just as Jonathan was to David. Read 1 Samuel 19:1-2 and 23:15-18
We can be lifelines as well. Jesus with skin on.
In whatever area and sphere of influence God has put us in, our leadership affects the those around us. We must first have the fruit of the spirit flowing in us. The very first fruit is love. Love is a verb. Do it. Don’t just say it. Walk it, talk it, show it. Let your words be gentle, encouraging and beneficial. Create a culture of honor, love and edification. We will either help or hurt people.
